RenaissanceEdit

Hi. I have reverted your changes to Renaissance. For historical people, Wikipedia generally uses their common names rather than specifically their surnames - and Galileo Galilei is pretty much universally known as "Galileo". -- Boing! said Zebedee (talk) 19:06, 13 May 2013 (UTC)

  • Ditto Thomas Hobbes, Science, etc. Your enthusiasm as a newcomer is admirable, but before you make such sweeping changes to article styles, please spend time getting to know the way things are written here first. -- Boing! said Zebedee (talk) 19:08, 13 May 2013 (UTC)

Please slow down and stop making these large-scale changes over stylistic issues - there is an established style of referring to famous historical figures here, and you need to discuss it first if you wish to change it. -- Boing! said Zebedee (talk) 19:14, 13 May 2013 (UTC)

BlockEdit

I'm sorry, but I have had to block you get your attention - please read the messages above, and please stop what you are doing and wait for discussion. -- Boing! said Zebedee (talk) 19:16, 13 May 2013 (UTC)

Hello. There is currently a discussion at Wikipedia:Administrators' noticeboard/Incidents regarding an issue with which you may have been involved. Thank you.

I've now answered your posting there. --Sol1 (talk) 21:38, 15 May 2013 (UTC)

December 2013Edit

Hello, I'm BracketBot. I have automatically detected that your edit to Paul Pilot may have broken the syntax by modifying 1 "[]"s. If you have, don't worry: just edit the page again to fix it. If I misunderstood what happened, or if you have any questions, you can leave a message on my operator's talk page.

List of unpaired brackets remaining on the page:
  • |title=Rue Royale |publisher=A Badge Of Friendship |date=2013-09-30 |accessdate=2013-12-08}}</ref> [[[Tim Williams (folk musician)|Tim Williams]].

Thanks, BracketBot (talk) 16:36, 9 December 2013 (UTC)

January 2014Edit

Hello, I'm BracketBot. I have automatically detected that your edit to Albert Miller may have broken the syntax by modifying 1 "()"s. If you have, don't worry: just edit the page again to fix it. Suzy Powell-RoosEdit

First of all, I want to thank you for all your hard work. I constantly see you making name adjustments to a lot of articles I watch. However, Suzy Powell-Roos you changed to Suzanne. While that is her given name, Suzy is the name she has been known by. I've met her, I've interviewed her. This one I think you got wrong. Trackinfo (talk) 16:45, 16 July 2015 (UTC)

Thank you for the information. I've moved the article back. --Sol1 (talk) 16:49, 16 July 2015 (UTC)

Disambiguation link notification for August 30Edit

Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. Wikipedia appreciates your help. We noticed though that when you edited 2012 African Championships in Athletics – Women's shot put, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Doping. Such links are almost always unintended, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of "Did you mean..." article titles. Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.

IAAF nameEdit

Hi Sol. Just to let you know, that Template:IAAF name now uses Wikidata, so you can place the IAAF ID on the Wikidata page and a plain use of {{IAAF name}} (no id) will provide the correct link. Great for use across differentS languages! SFB 21:47, 19 October 2015 (UTC)

ArbCom elections are now open!Edit

Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page. For the Election committee, MediaWiki message delivery (talk) 17:02, 24 November 2015 (UTC)

Lemi BerhanuEdit

Hi Sol1, I declined your CSD nom for Lemi Berhanu. There happens to be many news sources that refer to the athlete by "Lemi Berhanu Hayle". Perhaps consider WP:RM ({{subst:Requested move}}) and cite why you think it meets titling guidelines (like WP:COMMONNAME?) Cheers, — Andy W. (talk ·ctb) 03:26, 23 August 2016 (UTC)

Joyce BennettEdit

Hi, why did you move Joyce Bennett to Joyce M. Bennett? DuncanHill (talk) 23:31, 4 September 2016 (UTC)

Because Joyce M. Bennett is the common name of the priest, as can be seen by her books. Joyce Bennett is an Olympic athlete. --Sol1 (talk) 23:35, 4 September 2016 (UTC)
Funny how none of the obituaries call her Joyce M. Bennett then. DuncanHill (talk) 23:40, 4 September 2016 (UTC)
"Joyce M. Bennett" is the name written on the cover of her first book and on the cover of her second book. Of course it would be possible to move her to Joyce Bennett (priest), too. --Sol1 (talk) 23:49, 4 September 2016 (UTC)
I am aware of that, just as you are aware that she was commonly referred to in the press as "Joyce Bennett". Joyce Bennett (priest) and Joyce Bennett (athlete) (which was already redlinked form relevant articles) with a dab page at Joyce Bennett would be preferable to how it is now. It's a shame you didn't try to discuss the move before doing it. DuncanHill (talk) 23:53, 4 September 2016 (UTC)

Deletion discussion about Konstantin VorobyovEdit

Hello, Sol1,

I wanted to let you know that there's a discussion about whether Konstantin Vorobyov should be deleted. Your comments are welcome at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Konstantin Vorobyov .

If you're new to the process, articles for deletion is a group discussion (not a vote!) that usually lasts seven days. If you need it, there is a guide on how to contribute. Last but not least, you are highly encouraged to continue improving the article; just be sure not to remove the tag about the deletion nomination from the top.

Thanks, Abbottonian (talk) 15:06, 27 October 2016 (UTC)

If you created the article, please don't be offended. Instead, consider improving the article. For help on inserting references, see Referencing for beginners, or ask at the help desk. Speedy deletion nomination of Carol Martin (disambiguation)Edit

A tag has been placed on Carol Martin (disambiguation) requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G6 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because it is an orphaned disambiguation page which either

  • disambiguates two or fewer extant Wikipedia pages and whose title ends in "(disambiguation)" (i.e., there is a primary topic); or
  • disambiguates no (zero) extant Wikipedia pages, regardless of its title.

Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such pages may be deleted at any time. Please see the disambiguation page guidelines for more information.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. An automated process has detected that when you recently edited Ludvík Bohman, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Sprinter (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver). Such links are usually incorrect, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of unrelated topics with similar titles. (Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.)
