Vehicle engineeringEdit

Vehicle engineering (edit | talk | history | protect | delete | links | watch | logs | views) – (View AfD · Stats)
(Find sources: Google (books · news · newspapers · scholar · free images · WP refs· FENS · JSTOR · NYT · TWL)

This article represents WP:SYNTHESIS. There is no sub-discipline with this name mentioned in mechanical engineering, as would be expected from what is claimed in the lead paragraph, nor is it a term of art found in a literature search, except as a course of study in Chinese universities (where the term appears to be a literal translation into English for what is known as automotive engineering). None of the references cited use the term, either. HopsonRoad (talk) 14:03, 23 March 2020 (UTC)

Note: This discussion has been included in the list of Engineering-related deletion discussions. Coolabahapple (talk) 23:12, 23 March 2020 (UTC)
  • Delete per WP:SIGCOV, WP:NOTINHERITED, WP:V. The only source that even mentions this title is very brief. None of the other sources, as far as I can see, even describes what you can do with vehicle engineering. Sub-fields of a career are not automatically notable. The above discussion is preserved as an archive of the debate. Please do not modify it. Subsequent comments should be made on the appropriate discussion page (such as the article's talk page or in a deletion review). No further edits should be made to this page.

Typo fixing with AWBEdit

Hi, thank you for the typo fixing you are doing with AWB. However, please check all your edits and make sure that you only correct actual typo's and not simply unusual names.

  • This wasn't a typo
  • Here, in an article titled Vilain XIIII, "Vilains" is not a tpo for "villains", and Guines is not a typo for Guinness
  • here "Commission" should have a capital C, or else it should be corrected in the next sentence (and probably elsewhere) as well.

Thank you. Fram (talk) 11:48, 20 May 2020 (UTC)

Radio (magazine) pageEdit

I edited the Radio (magazine) page. My references? I was the editor for 17 years. Shall I note that every time? ChrissScherer (talk) 19:04, 25 May 2020 (UTC)

One example: The page says Penton was struggling when it sold Radio magazine and others. EVERY publisher had challenges, but that is not the reason for the sale. Penton decided to get out of the entertainment technology sector. At the time of the transfer, Radio magazine and Broadcast Engineering were sister publications. They each stood alone. BE was no longer a parent from an oversight point of view. ChrissScherer (talk) 19:04, 25 May 2020 (UTC) — Preceding unsigned comment added by 64.126.43.114 (talk) 13:28, 25 May 2020 (UTC)

I have added citations. I also realized I was not logged in. I also have magazine cover scans I can add as additional citations once my account is confirmed. ChrissScherer (talk) 19:04, 25 May 2020 (UTC)

Thanks and please check...Edit

Dan, thank you for going over my new page Lost in the Arctic. Please recheck any change(s) you may have made. When I was initially touching a thank-you message to you, I believe my clumsy index finger may have accidentally hit the “undo” button. Thanks again for taking a look. —Strudjum

It's_Only_TalkEdit

Hello, Dan

_ I'm not experimenting, you did not even took the time to look at what I was suppressing : this page is a publicity, not an encyclopedic article. Is it not neutral at all. Besides, I was suppressing biographical elements that should be in an article about a movie but in dedicated biographical page, when they exist. Evn when the biographical pages don't exist, those informations don't belong in an article about a movie. --Wataya7 (talk) 02:25, 3 June 2020 (UTC)

Dear @Wataya7:, you removed dramatically large portions of the content, reagarding the content, and what belongs there and not, I suggest you use the articles discussion page, Dan Koehl (talk) 02:33, 3 June 2020 (UTC)

A good idea?Edit

I'm not sure this was such a good idea when so many others who are heavily personally involved have not declared. Do you really think they will follow suit? Sort of like Lincoln declaring COI on the slave issue because he wants them freed, hoping that slave owners also will declare? --SergeWoodzing (talk) 13:44, 4 June 2020 (UTC)

I think its always good to follow rules @SergeWoodzing:, and regarding this specific case, they are clear, and written at How to disclose a COI, so I did what I interprete is requested from me. Reg "follow suit" this back in November 2002. Regarding slaves issues, I have no idea whatsoever of a logical connection to that rule. Dan Koehl (talk) 13:56, 4 June 2020 (UTC)
What back in November 2002? --SergeWoodzing (talk) 14:02, 4 June 2020 (UTC)
As described in the article. Dan Koehl (talk) 14:06, 4 June 2020 (UTC)

Lene MørkEdit

Hello, I'm really sorry to disturb you, but there is some issue which I think you could help me to solve. Recently I've created an English version article of Lene Mørk which is actually available in another language (German) also before. On the right of page, there is language icon In which we can choose another language. From English version of Lene Mørk, there is link to the German page; but there is no link from German to English page. (my English is bad, please forgive) Also, the English page is reviewed 2 days ago but still there is no search result coming. Can you please help? Thankyou. Zoglophie (talk) 14:38, 23 July 2020 (UTC)

This is strange @Zoglophie:, and I can see that both language links are active on the Wikidatapage. I really dont know, maybe theres some time issue, and later the lik will work...Dan Koehl (talk) 15:01, 23 July 2020 (UTC)

Swedish Wikipedians, has made strange and unmotivated removals of text and categoriesEdit

User:Tournesol, from Swedish Wikipedia, has based on his personal opinion, has on the article Dan Koehl:

  1. removed the category: management consultants, based on a personal onion, that "it doesn't appear to be quite correct" without giving any indication as to why this is "incorrect". The person in the article which is me, has been working as management consultant since 1997, which is verified up by several sources.
  2. removed reference that does not support the claim "one of Europe's most renowned experts on elephants.

So I hereby add 12 more citations to where the person Dan Koehl described in the article is labelled as expert and consultant:

  1. Citation from the article The foundation aiming to preserve the Kingdom’s elephant heritage in The Phnom Penh Post:

Additionally, throughout June, a Swedish elephant expert is set to work with Airavata to improve their elephant care. According to Chenda, the expert will return for one week a month over the course of a year to provide knowledge and technical work to the foundation. We were able to secure the invaluable expertise of Dan Koehl, one of the world’s most competent elephant consultants and experts who is now an adviser to our foundation.

  2. In PROJECT “LUCKY SAMA” Dan Koehl is described as "elephant consultant and trainer Dan Koehl from Sweden".
  3. In the article POHLEDEM Miroslava Bobka: Pěticípé hvězdy na pozadí =VIEW OF Miroslav Bobek: Five-pointed stars in the background, the Director of Prague Zoo, Mr Miroslava Bobka , wrote 2014: Dan Koehl, největší expert na asijské slony, který nám radil už při výběru Tamary a Janity na Srí Lance. which is translated to English with Google: Dan Koehl, the greatest expert on Asian elephants, who advised us on the selection of Tamara and Janita in Sri Lanka.
  4. Seatlle Times is the article Woodland Park Zoo to expand elephant program citing "Dan Koehl, a Swedish elephant expert".
  5. In Terres Rouges Lodge, the Airavata Elephant Foundation in Cambodia use the words, "Elephant expert Dan Koehl shares his knowledge on the historical relationship between man and elephant."
  6. The article in Seatlle Times, Big Business Zoos prize baby elephants, but at what cost? cite "I turned to elephant consultant Dan Koehl, a Swedish zookeeper, who has created a comprehensive database of elephant ownership worldwide".
  7. In The new gorilla exhibit "Dan koehl" is cites as: "elephant expert with the great site Elephants Encyclopedia - facts and information about elephants since 1995".
  8. In the discussion the horror of captive marine mammals, some mention "Dan Koehl" as A follow-up record uncovered by a Swedish elephant authority, Dan Koehl, showed that Grumpy was attacked by Patty and Maxine and “killed after sustaining injuries from being beaten up by [them].”
  9. This document, A Review of the Welfare of Zoo Elephants in Europe A report commissioned by the RSPCA cite "Dan Koehl" totally over 25 times in one single document.
  10. citation of my blog in International Zoo year Book at https://zslpublications.onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/pdfdirect/10.1111/izy.12233
  11. Citation by journalist Bob Royer in cascadias Couriers Tusko the elephant and other sadness as follows: "A Swedish man, Dan Koehl, has tracked 12,760 elephants, 5,640 of them dead and 7,120 living of which 2,307 are wild elephants and nearly 5,000 living elephants in various categories of captivity in 114 countries. This completely remarkable Internet treasure gives us the ability to track elephants over time and is a repository of thousands of individual animal stories."
  12. The Norwegian animal Welfare publication cites in The world of Baba-a circus elephant Dan Koehl as elefantkonsulent Dan Koehl (elephant consultant)

Orphan tagEdit

Hi on my article List of massacres in Bihar i think orphan tag is not needed as it links to a number of articlesHeba Aisha (talk) 10:15, 22 August 2020 (UTC)

I just tried to de-spam categoriesEdit

There are simply countless game characters, so I thought the categories should just list the ones with their own articles instead of also the few of these countless just comeyely arbitrarily chosen by someone to be highlighted like that. For some reason not one not two but three people jumped on me instantly. Tell me can I continue or not. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 5.173.104.38 (talk) 12:48, 22 August 2020 (UTC)

Dear @5.173.104.38:, I have no insight in the details what you want to to do, beut removing ALL categories from an article, without giving a single reason why, is normally an indication, this MAY be a mistake. Dan Koehl (talk) 12:52, 22 August 2020 (UTC)

Jensen and the Flips EditEdit

Hi Dan,

I edited the Jensen and the Flips entry because the statement is completely Libelous. Stating that the band is "best known for sexual harassment" is completely out of context. That is why I revised the entry. Wilddogg11 (talk) 02:18, 23 August 2020 (UTC)

Dear @Wilddogg11:, this is your opinion, and you may be right, and you may be wrong, so your opinion needs to be verified from an independant source, since the text you removed, was verified. I noticed that in this edit to Jensen and The Flips, you removed content without adequately explaining why. In the future, it would be helpful to others if you described your changes to Wikipedia with an edit summary. Dan Koehl (talk) 02:23, 23 August 2020 (UTC)

de la Vega siteEdit

Hello Dan:

I forgot to enter an edit summary before I published the latest addition which was a Biography section. Then I was adding a Chronology section and the problem there I wanted to preview but I accidentally pressed "Publish changes". And it looks like I accidentally deleted the newly added Biography! Sorry about all this; I will make sure I always enter an edit summary and be more careful selecting the correct button!

Thank you!
