Needle fireEdit

Removed this section as it does not pertain to firearm mechanisms. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 69.168.160.208 (talk) 20:13, 30 August 2019 (UTC)

DO NOT CENSOR thisEdit

This absolutely belongs in the second paragraph of the Introduction,

The Mamluks used hand cannons in battle against the Mongols in 1260 at the Battle of Ain Jalut.

The Mamluks in 1260 is before the Chinese in 1288, and this fact must be included in the Introduction. 47.201.187.246 (talk) 13:03, 30 October 2019 (UTC)

See your Talk page. You may not use Wikipedia as a source for itself, and any edit in which you attempt to do so will be reverted. General Ization Talk 13:09, 30 October 2019 (UTC)
Then use the same sources for both wikipedia articles. It belongs here too. Put it in. 47.201.187.246 (talk) 18:37, 30 October 2019 (UTC)

Legal definitionsEdit

The legal definitions section is growing, and I think, becoming rather WP:UNDUE in size. This article is not "List of definitions of firearms". Surely we don't need a full definition from every country, just a general definition, and how some countries vary from that. (Hohum @) 15:50, 7 March 2020 (UTC)

One way to do that could be to remove the US definition which does contain useless poorly sourced details and to remove the definition for South-Africa, small country ranked 24th for area and population. The fact that the term firearm is defined by a local law, could be kept anyway.
Definitions from international treaties might be those which give the most international meaning.
Other definitions are interesting ones because they provide pieces of information about what should be considered or not considered as a firearm, giving variations of what can be or cannot be considered as a firearm. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 77.193.104.201 (talk) 14:25, 8 March 2020 (UTC)
Agreed. I'm also concerned about prominence. The first thing a reader sees after the lead is legal definitions - hardly what they might expect immediately for almost any article. (Hohum @) 14:31, 8 March 2020 (UTC)
