== GOCE newsletters and reports ==

{{ping|Baffle gab1978}} Thanks for doing the December newsletter and the annual report. (I hope I haven't been editing the newsletters too heavily, and will try to ease off of that.) I'll try to contribute a bit to the report in the next few days, plug in some numbers and maybe write something as outgoing lead. Per usual, I'll wait until the last 2019 Requests are completed before porting the year's data to a spreadsheet for finer analysis. If I have any specific notes, I'll probably discuss on the report's talk page. –&nbsp;[[User:Reidgreg|Reidgreg]] ([[User talk:Reidgreg#top|talk]]) 13:59, 1 January 2020 (UTC)
:Thanks Reidgreg, much appreciated. I'm not precious (beyond a point!) about newsletters, corrections and additions are gratefully received. The annual report still needs work and I'm planning a short piece about the request-archiving bot, so that will take a while as Bobbychan is travelling till next week. At least you can put your feet up now! Happy New Year (HNY), etc. :) Cheers, '''[[User talk:Baffle gab1978|<span style="color:#191960">Baffle☿''gab''</span>]]''' 14:49, 1 January 2020 (UTC)

==Hi==
[[Beaune Altarpiece|Beaune]] made it through TFA and nobody died as a result! Phew, and thanks for the copy edit suggestions [insert appropriate DASH here] genuinely; the issue was never the veracity of your suggestions, more the danger of being overwhelmed if the effort was scaled up. Anyway, have been reading up on some of the MOS points since. Hope all is well and if your on the northern hemisphere, January weather isn't too miserable so far. [[User talk:Ceoil|<span style="color:#006633">Ceoil</span>]] ([[User talk:Ceoil|talk]]) 17:01, 11 January 2020 (UTC)
:{{ping|Ceoil}} I'm glad to hear that. I think in the future I'll probably just follow [[WP:BRD]] for the straightforward MOS cleanup rather than boring editors with the details, and save discussion for the few places where I spot clarity issues. It's presently warm enough to be muddy here, but had a nice hike this morning and did some maintenance on the local ski trail. – [[User:Reidgreg|Reidgreg]] ([[User talk:Reidgreg#top|talk]]) 19:22, 12 January 2020 (UTC)
::It sounds like your further north than I am (51.9° N). As I said, it was the perceived short deadline, rather than the substance of you points that sent me off the rails. Anyways, to push my luck, could do with help from the likes of you on [[Skellig Michael]], which contains a lot of numbers and stats that might need assistance re formatting and such. Also I cant spell. No worries if you are busy. [[User talk:Ceoil|<span style="color:#006633">Ceoil</span>]] ([[User talk:Ceoil|talk]]) 00:40, 19 January 2020 (UTC)

== [[Naagin (2015 TV series)]] ==

Thank you for your contributions at [[Naagin (2015 TV series)]]. That article has been a pain for many years... {{p}} [[User:Cyphoidbomb|Cyphoidbomb]] ([[User talk:Cyphoidbomb|talk]]) 18:33, 27 January 2020 (UTC)
:{{ping| Cyphoidbomb}} you're welcome! I'm not sure what you can really do about that sort of editing except to try and inform the editor that it isn't encyclopedic and that fan pages belong elsewhere. –&nbsp;[[User:Reidgreg|Reidgreg]] ([[User talk:Reidgreg#top|talk]]) 18:43, 27 January 2020 (UTC)
::Well, in this case, two of the back-and-forth editors have both been indeffed by CheckUsers for sockpuppetry. I think that one of them might work for the show's production company and might be trying to take ownership of it. Obviously a conflict of interest, and the result is, uh, shall we say "self-proctology"?
::Many Indian TV articles have issues like this. One common thing I experience is the assertion of deliberate ignorance. Ex: a cast member leaves the series. You write, "In 2017, Jane Smith left the series after a dispute with producers over the direction her character was heading.{{blue|[1]}}" That information, which provides historical context for that alleged work of art, gets deleted and in some cases, the cast member gets deleted as well, like [https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Divya_Drishti&diff=936734616&oldid=936734518 here], where this actor apparently never existed.
::Or, complete sentences are shunned in favour of parentheticals: "John Smith in a dual role as Karan and Kabir. In 2017, Smith's character died in a snowmobile accident." becomes "John Smith as Karan/Kabir (2016–2017) (died) (dual role)". I could rant for hours about this, but that certainly won't be fun for you, so I'll just go away and wish you a good remainder of your day. {{p}} [[User:Cyphoidbomb|Cyphoidbomb]] ([[User talk:Cyphoidbomb|talk]]) 18:58, 27 January 2020 (UTC)
:::Oh, I had a couple snickers at the [[chutzpah]] involved. Happy editing! –&nbsp;[[User:Reidgreg|Reidgreg]] ([[User talk:Reidgreg#top|talk]]) 19:46, 27 January 2020 (UTC)
::::I'll add my thanks for your efforts on this article as well, and welcome to the craziness that are Indian film and TV articles. It's an ... interesting experience at times. <b>[[User talk:Ravensfire|<span style="color: darkred;">Ravensfire</span>]]</b> ([[User talk:Ravensfire|talk]]) 19:44, 28 January 2020 (UTC)

== Re:Combined Drive ==

It looks like it is going to move forward on our end, but I've been rather preoccupied these last weeks so I couldn't say for sure. I'm sorry for any inconvenience that this may have caused you or the GOCE, but the other coordinators should be in a position to get back to you on the developments, as you've noted on the coordinator page at milhist. In a worst case scenario, you can borrow the <nowiki>{{@MILHIST}}</nowiki> pinger to see if someone more in the loop than I am can answer your questions. == note re Wikiprojects info ==

thanks for your reply to me, re mass mailing permissions. i wanted to ask you about something else. I see that you are a coordinator for the WikiProject GOCE? I am a coordinator at WikiProject History. I have been trying to expand some resources lately to let people know about current activities at WikiProjects. I created a new section for this at [[Wikipedia:Community bulletin board]], and added an item for GOCE there. Could you please let me know what you think of that? I am trying to create some shared workspace for WikiProjects to keep each other up to date on current projects and editing activities. I was wondering if we could create some kind of shared forum or resources for WikiProjects to exchange information on events and methods. Please feel free to let me know what you think. thanks!! --[[User:Sm8900|Sm8900]] ([[User talk:Sm8900|talk]]) 16:08, 6 March 2020 (UTC)
:I suspect it could be a little more succinct, to say that there's a copy editing event for a certain period and provide a link for more information. Our [[Wikipedia:WikiProject Guild of Copy Editors/Ombox|outgoing message box]] lists current and upcoming events. There are also a lot of ongoing WikiProject editing events like the [[Template:The Challenge series invitation navigation bar|Challenge series]]. I don't have a lot of time to read forums (I hardly ever visit the Village Pump) so I could see a quick list of events generating interest. I'll add our March drive. –&nbsp;[[User:Reidgreg|Reidgreg]] ([[User talk:Reidgreg#top|talk]]) 16:30, 6 March 2020 (UTC)

Hello and welcome to the March newsletter, a brief update of Guild activities since December&nbsp;2019. All being well, we're planning to issue these quarterly in 2020, balancing the need to communicate widely with the avoidance of filling up talk pages. Don't forget you can unsubscribe at any time; see below.

'''[[Wikipedia:WikiProject_Guild_of_Copy_Editors/Coordinators/2020/1|Election results]]''': There was little changeover in the roster of Guild Coordinators, with Miniapolis stepping down with distinction as a ''coordinator emeritus'' while Jonesey95 returned as lead coordinator. The next election is scheduled for June&nbsp;2020 and all Wikipedians in good standing may participate.

'''[[Wikipedia:WikiProject Guild of Copy Editors/Backlog elimination drives/January 2020|January Drive]]''': Thanks to everyone for the splendid work, completing 215 copy edits including 56 articles from the [[Wikipedia:WikiProject Guild of Copy Editors/Requests|Requests page]] and 116 backlog articles from the target months of June to August&nbsp;2019. At the conclusion of the drive there was a '''record low of 323 articles''' in the copy editing backlog. Of the 27 editors who signed up for the drive, 21 copyedited at least one article. Final results, including barnstars awarded, are available [[Wikipedia:WikiProject Guild of Copy Editors/Backlog elimination drives/January 2020/Barnstars|here]].

'''[[Wikipedia:WikiProject Guild of Copy Editors/Blitzes/February 2020|February Blitz]]''': Of the 15 editors who signed up for this one-week blitz, 13 completed at least one copy edit. A total of 32 articles were copy edited, evenly split between the twin goals of requests and the oldest articles from the copy-editing backlog. Full results are [[Wikipedia:WikiProject Guild of Copy Editors/Blitzes/February 2020/Barnstars|here]].

'''[[Wikipedia:WikiProject Guild of Copy Editors/Backlog elimination drives/March 2020|March Drive]]''': Currently underway, this event is targeting requests and backlog articles from September to November&nbsp;2019. As of 18&nbsp;March, the backlog stands at a '''record low of 253 articles''' and is expected to drop further as the drive progresses. Awards will be given to everyone who copyedits at least one article from the backlog. Help set a new record and sign up now!

'''Progress report:''' As of 18 March, GOCE copyeditors have completed 161 requests in 2020 and there was a net reduction of 385 articles from the copy-editing backlog&nbsp;– a 60% decrease from the beginning of the year. Well done and thank you everyone!<!--Coords can update or remove this line before sending the newsletter. -->

'''Election reminder''': It may only be March but don't forget our mid-year Election of Coordinators opens for nominations on 1&nbsp;June. [[Wikipedia:WikiProject Guild of Copy Editors/Coordinators|Coordinators]] normally serve a six-month term and are elected on an approval basis. Self-nominations are welcome. If you've thought of helping out at the Guild, or know of another editor who would make a good coordinator, please consider standing for election or nominating them [[Wikipedia:WikiProject Guild of Copy Editors/Coordinators/2020/2|here]].

Thank you all again for your participation; we wouldn't be able to achieve what we have without you! Cheers from your GOCE coordinators {{noping|Jonesey95}}, {{noping|Baffle gab1978}}, {{noping|Reidgreg}}, {{noping|Tdslk}} and {{noping|Twofingered Typist}}

== Multiple claimants on KAI KF-X ==

Hey Reidgreg, fellow copyeditor Tenryuu here. It seems that three of us have claimed the [[KAI KF-X]] article to work on for the March 2020 drive. It appears that none of us had removed the {{Tl|copyedit}} tag or added an {{Tl|in use}} tag for others to see. Do you know what normally happens in this case?

Forgot to sign. --[[User:Tenryuu|<span style="color:#556B2F">Tenryuu&nbsp;🐲</span>]] (&nbsp;[[User talk:Tenryuu|💬]]&nbsp;•&nbsp;[[Special:Contributions/Tenryuu|📝]]) 02:51, 25 March 2020 (UTC)

Read the exchange you left on BluePenguin's post and checked the post history. Seems like you beat me to it. :P --[[User:Tenryuu|<span style="color:#556B2F">Tenryuu&nbsp;🐲</span>]] (&nbsp;[[User talk:Tenryuu|💬]]&nbsp;•&nbsp;[[Special:Contributions/Tenryuu|📝]]) 02:55, 25 March 2020 (UTC)

:{{ec}}{{ping|Tenryuu}} Yup, that's right. {{shrug}}
:If you look at the article history for [[KAI KF-X]], you'll see that I put in an edit ([https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=KAI_KF-X&diff=947230950&oldid=947033087 diff]) with the summary "beginning copy edit" about half an hour before you started working on the article. The edit that I made commented-out the copy edit tag which ''should'' prevent it from listing in the category of articles needing copy edit. This is a step a lot of us use to try to prevent this very situation. (I'd also added the article to my article list on the [[Wikipedia:WikiProject Guild of Copy Editors/Backlog elimination drives/March 2020|March drive page]]). I personally tend not to use the in-use tag because bots interact with it at 24 hours, and a 5k copy edit often takes me longer than that. As you may have noticed, {{noping|BluePenguin18}} was working on the article before me, but he decided to stop and I received his permission to take over on his talk page. I think in this case, since I'd claimed the article first (or second) and started working on it, that I should continue with it.
:Edit conflicts like this happen, since we're busily working on the same group of articles during a drive, but we try to minimize them. It's always a good idea to check the article's history before you start a copy edit, (1) to see if someone else is already copy editing the article, and (2) to see if the article is undergoing frequent editing and may not be stable enough for copy editing. It's not a bad idea to check the article talk page as well, to look for discussions about content disputes or other issues with the article.
:I hope that's okay with you. BTW, I checked one of your copy edits and was impressed with all the extra cleanup work you did! I'm pretty good at spotting MOS stuff if there's another copy edit you'd like me to check. –&nbsp;[[User:Reidgreg|Reidgreg]] ([[User talk:Reidgreg#top|talk]]) 03:18, 25 March 2020 (UTC)
::{{u|Reidgreg}}, thanks for the compliment. As much as it pains me, I'll withdraw from KAI KF-X. As a heads-up, I suspect the article may be copyvio-ing via plagiarism; checking sources for a date to use brought me to near-identical wording used and might explain the weird tense usage I saw prior to editing it. [[User:Tenryuu|<span style="color:#556B2F">Tenryuu&nbsp;🐲</span>]] (&nbsp;[[User talk:Tenryuu|💬]]&nbsp;•&nbsp;[[Special:Contributions/Tenryuu|📝]]) 03:25, 25 March 2020 (UTC)
:::{{ping|Tenryuu}} Thanks for the heads-up, I'll run Earwig and paraphrase. I've been checking some of the references while trying to improve the flow. Will probably leave it until tomorrow. –&nbsp;[[User:Reidgreg|Reidgreg]] ([[User talk:Reidgreg#top|talk]]) 03:35, 25 March 2020 (UTC)

Hi, sorry to bother you, I wondered if you would have a look at my request at [[Wikipedia talk:Million Award#Agatha Christie]] for review of Million Awards for both editors please. :::{{ping|Koridas}} When a GA review is put "on hold", that indicates that the reviewer is holding a pass/fail determination while allowing time for the nominator (or other interested parties) to make edits to the article (see {{section link|Wikipedia:Good article nominations/Instructions#Putting the article on hold}}). == DYK query ==

Hi, looks as if you (plural you) will get the copy edit tag backlog down to one month. Amazing. And there is some right chaff in the May list! I am surprised at how the Requests list has burgeoned; it doesn't seem that long ago that it was down to just two articles not being worked on. Anyway, hearty congratulations to you and the team.

I have finally managed to scrabble together 50 DYKs; could you remind me where I self nominate for a 50 DYK Creation and Expansion Medal? I managed to find it two years ago, but I seem to have lost a few brain cells since then. Thanks. [[User:Gog the Mild|Gog the Mild]] ([[User talk:Gog the Mild|talk]]) 14:06, 27 May 2020 (UTC)

:{{ping|Gog the Mild}} I tried [[Special:Search/Wikipedia:DYK medal]] and found [[Wikipedia:Did you know/Awards]] and [[Wikipedia:List of Wikipedians by number of DYKs]]. You can try at the latter's talk page.
::Thanks. I am now wondering if I imagined it. I asked you, because it was you who awarded me my 25 DYKs medal.

::I am fairly sure that there is not such a beast. I frequently trawl the more obscure barnstar lists and think that I would have remembered if I had seen it. Who managed that? – [[User:Gog the Mild|Gog the Mild]] ([[User talk:Gog the Mild|talk]]) 15:11, 27 May 2020 (UTC)
:::{{ping|Gog the Mild}} Kindof a hypothetical, but there were so many reviews as part of the [[Wikipedia:WikiProject_Good_articles/GAN_Backlog_Drives/April–May_2020#Reidgreg|backlog drive]] that I'm sure it's happened. Well, since I awarded you the 25 I may as well do so for the 50. Seems most self-award; I wonder if [[WP:KIND]] has a rota for requesting earned barnstars? Hello and welcome to the June newsletter, a brief update of Guild activities since [[Wikipedia:WikiProject Guild of Copy Editors/Newsletters/March 2020|March 2020]]. You can unsubscribe from our mailings at any time; see below. All times and dates stated are in [[Universal Coordinated Time|UTC]].

<div style="text-align: center;">'''Current events'''</div>

'''Election time:''' Nomination of candidates in our [[Wikipedia:WikiProject Guild of Copy Editors/Coordinators/2020/2|'''mid-year Election of Coordinators''']] opened on 1&nbsp;June, and voting will take place from 00:01 on 16&nbsp;June. [[Wikipedia:WikiProject Guild of Copy Editors/Coordinators|GOCE coordinators]] normally serve a six-month term and are elected on an approval basis. Self-nominations are welcome. If you've thought about helping out at the Guild, or you know of another editor who would make a good coordinator, please consider standing for election or nominating them [[Wikipedia:WikiProject Guild of Copy Editors/Coordinators/2020/2|here]].

'''[[Wikipedia:WikiProject Guild of Copy Editors/Blitzes/June 2020|June Blitz]]''': This blitz begins at 00:01 on 14 June and ends at 23:59 on 20 June, with themes of [[:Category:Wikipedia articles needing copy edit from May 2020|articles tagged for copyedit in May 2020]] and [[Wikipedia:WikiProject_Guild_of_Copy_Editors/Requests|requests]].

<div style="text-align: center;">'''Drive and blitz reports'''</div>

'''[[Wikipedia:WikiProject Guild of Copy Editors/Backlog elimination drives/March 2020|March Drive]]''': [[Self-isolation]] from [[2019–20 coronavirus pandemic|coronavirus]] may have played a hand in making this one of our most successful backlog elimination drives. The copy-editing backlog was reduced from 477 to a '''record low of 118 articles''', a 75% reduction. The last four months of 2019 were cleared, reducing the backlog to three months. Fifty requests were also completed, and the total word count of copy-edited articles was 759,945. Of the 29 editors who signed up, 22 completed at least one copy edit. Final results, including barnstars awarded, are available [[Wikipedia:WikiProject Guild of Copy Editors/Backlog elimination drives/March 2020/Barnstars|here]].

'''[[Wikipedia:WikiProject Guild of Copy Editors/Blitzes/April 2020|April Blitz]]''': This blitz ran from 12 to 18&nbsp;April with a theme of [[Wikipedia:WikiProject Military history/Indian military history task force|Indian military history]]. Of the 18 people who signed up, 14 copyedited at least one article. Participants claimed a total of 60 copyedits. Final results, including barnstars awarded, are available [[Wikipedia:WikiProject Guild of Copy Editors/Blitzes/April 2020/Barnstars|here]].

'''[[Wikipedia:WikiProject Guild of Copy Editors/Backlog elimination drives/May 2020|May Drive]]''': This event marked the 10th anniversary of the GOCE's copy-editing drives, and set a goal of diminishing the backlog to just one month of articles, as close to zero articles as possible. '''We achieved the goal of eliminating all articles that had been tagged prior to the start of the drive, for the first time in our history!''' Of the 51 editors who signed up, 43 copyedited at least one article. Final results, including barnstars awarded, are available [[Wikipedia:WikiProject Guild of Copy Editors/Backlog elimination drives/May 2020/Barnstars|here]].

<div style="text-align: center;">'''Other news'''</div>

'''Progress report''': as of 2&nbsp;June, GOCE participants had processed 328 requests since 1&nbsp;January, which puts us on pace to exceed any previous year's number of requests. As of the end of the May drive, the backlog stood at just 156 articles, all tagged in May 2020.

'''Outreach''': To mark the 10th anniversary of our first Backlog Elimination Drive, [[Wikipedia:Wikipedia Signpost|''The Signpost'']] contributor and GOCE participant {{noping|Puddleglum2.0}} interviewed project coordinators and copy-editors for the journal's [[Wikipedia:Wikipedia_Signpost/2020-04-26/WikiProject_report|April WikiProject Report]]. The Drive and the current Election of Coordinators have also been covered in ''The Signpost''{{'s}} [[Wikipedia:Wikipedia Signpost/2020-05-31/News and notes|May News and Notes page]].

Thank you all again for your participation; we wouldn't be able to achieve what we have without you! Cheers from your GOCE coordinators {{noping|Jonesey95}}, {{noping|Baffle gab1978}}, {{noping|Reidgreg}}, {{noping|Tdslk}} and {{noping|Twofingered Typist}}.

::You're welcome. == [[Free Comic Book Day]] nomination and improvement ==

Thank you for reviewing my nomination for Good Article and going ahead and making some changes to the article. I will try to work on other suggestions you had as time permits, but as you noticed before I am currently not frequent on editing. It'll get there eventually. [[User:Spidey104|<font color="blue">'''Spidey'''</font>]][[User talk:Spidey104#top|<font color="red">''104''</font>]] 16:52, 8 June 2020 (UTC)
:{{ping|Spidey104}} Hey, good to hear from you! I think the article is up to GA standards now if we renominate it. I was hoping that we might be able to time it for a DYK if it's rescheduled this year or possibly for next year's event. Another possibility would be to try and promote it on the main page's [[WP:On this day|On this day]] section for its 20th anniversary (next year). What do you think? – [[User:Reidgreg|Reidgreg]] ([[User talk:Reidgreg#top|talk]]) 21:52, 8 June 2020 (UTC)

::Now that it's spread out over the summer, I don't know if it's worthwhile to renominate so soon. New info about that will be coming in and added slowly over the summer. Once it hits fall, things will slow down again and can be cleaned up. I think renominating to get it up for the '''On this day''' next year for its 20th anniversary will be great! == Groundhog Day ==

Hi Reid, I've finally had a chance to go over Groundhog Day. I admit it took longer than I said as I got ''The Last of Us 2'' and have been ramming through the story as fast as possible. I agree with pretty much everything you've done and suggested and made the necessary changes. It's up for GA at the minute and I'll be on to FA as soon as that's done. Thanks for your help! [[User: Darkwarriorblake|Darkwarriorblake]] / [[User talk:Darkwarriorblake|SEXY ACTION TALK PAGE!]] 21:29, 22 June 2020 (UTC)
:{{ping|Darkwarriorblake}} You're welcome! I enjoy working on comedy articles when I can, and it was nice to be reminded of how good a film this is. Assuming the sources check out, this shouldn't have much problem passing GAN. – [[User:Reidgreg|Reidgreg]] ([[User talk:Reidgreg#top|talk]]) 22:30, 22 June 2020 (UTC)

fails! Canada has just failed to gain a seat on the United Nations Security Council, despite attempting "to garner support for its campaign by serving poutine to UN diplomats". I am surprised. [[User:Gog the Mild|Gog the Mild]] ([[User talk:Gog the Mild|talk]]) 22:20, 24 June 2020 (UTC)
:{{ping|Gog the Mild}} Well, it's not like [[List of Canadian peacekeeping missions|Canada invented peacekeeping]] or anything. Much thanks for that addition, it's a considerably better example of poutine in international diplomacy than the one ahead of it in the article. I should probably get something about Vladimir Poutine as well. For next February, I'd like to have a short article written for [[Poutine Week]], maybe a DYK or OTD. – [[User:Reidgreg|Reidgreg]] ([[User talk:Reidgreg#top|talk]]) 03:39, 25 June 2020 (UTC)

== GOCE Assessment ==

Hi Reidgreg. I recently CIR blocked {{noping|Can I Log In}}. We have begun discussing a possible unblock. I noticed you gave a long [[User_talk:Can_I_Log_In/Archive_1#Copy_edit_of_Lori_Loughlin|review]] of one of their GOCE efforts in early May. Have you observed them since then? If so what have you observed? Judging by their talk page, I take the lack of GOCE related comments, compared to other areas they edit in, as a positive, but would like some independent confirmation of that if possible. Happy to take your answer here or via email. Thanks and best, [[User:Barkeep49|Barkeep49]] ([[User_talk:Barkeep49|talk]]) 00:28, 3 July 2020 (UTC)
:{{tps}} Hi {{ping|Barkeep49}}, I hope you don't mind me commenting here. I'm surprised to read this; Can I Log In took part in our recent June Blitz [[Wikipedia:WikiProject_Guild_of_Copy_Editors/Blitzes/June_2020#Can_I_Log_In_(talk)|here]]; he or she completed three c/es, one of which I checked and found an improvement to the article [https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Salah_Farhat&action=historysubmit&type=revision&diff=963113453&oldid=959201377 here]. Another is [https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Squash_in_India&action=historysubmit&type=revision&diff=963667340&oldid=958330769 Squash in India]. I can't think of any negative behaviour from that editor. Cheers, '''[[User talk:Baffle gab1978|<span style="color:#191960">Baffle☿''gab''</span>]]''' 01:28, 3 July 2020 (UTC)
::{{u|Baffle gab1978}}, thanks I not only don't mind, I appreciate your feedback (and hopefully Reidgreg doesn't mind us talking on their user talk). I had suspected that CILI's copy edit work was a positive and having you, given your credentials, confirm that is what I was hoping to happen, and affirms the way I see towards lifting the block. Best, [[User:Barkeep49|Barkeep49]] ([[User_talk:Barkeep49|talk]]) 01:38, 3 July 2020 (UTC)
:::No problem; having just read through CILI's talk page, I can see where the problems lie. If CILI can be persuaded to confine her or his editing mostly to mainspace, and stay away from behind-the-scenes areas, I think CILI can be a productive and positive editor. Thanks for giving CILI another chance. :) Cheers, '''[[User talk:Baffle gab1978|<span style="color:#191960">Baffle☿''gab''</span>]]''' 02:16, 3 July 2020 (UTC)
::::As another GOCE coordinator, Can I Log In's copy edits seemed pretty good to me. I didn't pay attention to their other contributions, but a limited unblock (like the inverse of a topic ban) for them to focus on copy editing or other content work may be a good way forward. – [[User:Jonesey95|Jonesey95]] ([[User talk:Jonesey95|talk]]) 03:35, 3 July 2020 (UTC)
:::::{{u|Jonesey95}}, that essentially what I just proposed to them. Glad we are on the same page. Best, [[User:Barkeep49|Barkeep49]] ([[User_talk:Barkeep49|talk]]) 03:52, 3 July 2020 (UTC)
::::::{{ping|Barkeep49}} I was only looking at a specific series of edits by CILI; these had their good and bad points, which I would expect from a newer copy editor. They could be a little more thoughtful in their editing. I tend to AGF a lot, and I hope that the recent feedback will help them correct their editing behaviour. Feel free to use my talk page to keep this GOCE feedback in one place. {{small|(I'm unlikely to archive it until year's end).}} – [[User:Reidgreg|Reidgreg]] ([[User talk:Reidgreg#top|talk]]) 12:18, 3 July 2020 (UTC)

== Copy edit request ==

Hello Reidgreg. Hope you are keeping well. Thanks for your past help with my article [[Manilal Dwivedi]], which you had copy-edited on my request. It has been copy-edited several times before and after GA nomination. Its peer review has recently completed. And I am going to nominate it for FA. Before that could you please copy-edit its two sub-section: (1) Religious and philosophical writings and (2) Translations. Also, could you check the article if there are any grammatical errors or any issue in presentation? I am not a native speaker of English, and hence can't identify grammatical error easily. I have also put this request at GOCE, so you can pick it up from there. If you can't help, please feel free to say NO. Thanks. --[[User:Gazal world|Gazal world]] ([[User talk:Gazal world|talk]]) 12:37, 12 July 2020 (UTC)

==Your draft article, [[Draft:9th Canadian Comedy Awards]]==
[[File:Information icon4.svg|48px|left|alt=|link=]]

Hello, Reidgreg. It has been over six months since you last edited the [[WP:AFC|Articles for Creation]] submission or [[WP:Drafts|Draft]] page you started, "[[Draft:9th Canadian Comedy Awards|9th Canadian Comedy Awards]]".

In accordance with our policy that Wikipedia is not for the indefinite hosting of material deemed unsuitable for the encyclopedia [[WP:mainspace|mainspace]], the draft has been nominated for deletion. If you plan on working on it further, or editing it to address the issues raised if it was declined, simply {{edit|Draft:9th Canadian Comedy Awards|edit the submission}} and remove the {{tlc|db-afc}}, {{tlc|db-draft}}, or {{tlc|db-g13}} code.

If your submission has already been deleted by the time you get there, and you wish to retrieve it, you can request its undeletion by following the instructions at [[WP:REFUND/G13|this link]]. An administrator will, in most cases, restore the submission so you can continue to work on it.

Thank you for your submission to Wikipedia! <!-- Template:Db-draft-notice --><!-- Template:Db-csd-notice-custom --> [[User:UnitedStatesian|UnitedStatesian]] ([[User talk:UnitedStatesian|talk]]) 14:41, 21 August 2020 (UTC)
:These deletions really go by too fast, without adequate time to respond, which I'm sure creates more work for all involved. – [[User:Reidgreg|Reidgreg]] ([[User talk:Reidgreg#top|talk]]) 12:04, 22 August 2020 (UTC)

Hello and welcome to the September [[Wikipedia:WikiProject Guild of Copy Editors/Newsletters|GOCE newsletter]], a brief update of Guild activities since [[Wikipedia:WikiProject Guild of Copy Editors/Newsletters/June 2020|June&nbsp;2020]].

{{Center|{{spaces|17|em}}'''Current and upcoming events'''}}
[[Wikipedia:WikiProject Guild of Copy Editors/Backlog elimination drives/September 2020|'''September Drive''']]: Our current backlog-elimination drive is open until 23:59 on 30 September (UTC) and is open to all copy editors. Sign up today!

'''Election reminder''': [[Wikipedia:WikiProject Guild of Copy Editors/Coordinators/2021/1|our end-of-year Election of Coordinators]] opens for nominations on 1 December. Coordinators normally serve a six-month term and are elected on an approval basis. Self-nominations are welcome. If you've thought of helping out at the Guild, or know of another editor who would make a good coordinator, please consider standing for election or nominating them [[Wikipedia:WikiProject_Guild_of_Copy_Editors/Coordinators/2021/1#Nominations|here]].

{{Center|'''Drive and Blitz reports'''}}
[[Wikipedia:WikiProject Guild of Copy Editors/Blitzes/June 2020|'''June Blitz''']]: An uncorrected typo (even copy editors make copy editing mistakes!) led to an eight-day "leap blitz" from 14 to 21&nbsp;June, focusing on [[WP:GOCER|requests]] and articles tagged in May. 19&nbsp;participating editors claimed 54 copy edits. Final results, including barnstars awarded, are available [[Wikipedia:WikiProject Guild of Copy Editors/Blitzes/June 2020/Barnstars|here]].

[[Wikipedia:WikiProject Guild of Copy Editors/Backlog elimination drives/July 2020|'''July Drive''']]: Over 750,000 words of articles were copy edited for this event, keeping pace with the previous three [[self-isolation|self-isolated]] drives. Of the 38 people who signed up, 30 copyedited at least one article. Final results and awards are listed [[Wikipedia:WikiProject Guild of Copy Editors/Backlog elimination drives/July 2020/Barnstars|here]].

[[Wikipedia:WikiProject Guild of Copy Editors/Blitzes/August 2020|'''August Blitz''']]: From 16 to 22&nbsp;August, we copy edited articles tagged in June and July&nbsp;2020 and requests. 12 participating editors completed 37 copy edits on the blitz. Final results, including barnstars awarded, are available [[Wikipedia:WikiProject Guild of Copy Editors/Blitzes/August 2020/Barnstars|here]].

{{Center|'''Other news'''}}
'''[[Wikipedia:WikiProject Guild of Copy Editors/Coordinators/2020/2|June election]]:''' Jonesey95 was chosen to continue as lead coordinator, assisted by Baffle gab1978, Tdslk, Twofingered Typist, and first-time coordinator Puddleglum2.0. {{noping|Reidgreg}} took a break after serving for a couple years. Thanks to everyone who participated!

'''Progress report:''' As of 01:33, 18 September 2020 (UTC), GOCE copyeditors had processed 532 requests since 1 January and there were 38 requests awaiting completion on the [[WP:GOCE/R|Requests page]]. The backlog of articles tagged for copy-editing stood at 433 (see monthly progress graph above).

Thank you all again for your participation; we wouldn't be able to achieve what we have without you! Cheers from your GOCE coordinators {{noping|Jonesey95}}, {{noping|Baffle gab1978}}, {{noping|Puddleglum2.0}}, {{noping|Tdslk}} and {{noping|Twofingered Typist}}.
