This location is an excellent picnic spot and is known for being one of the cleanest sight-seeing locations in Rajgir. Although the lake was relatively unpolluted for a time, this is not the case presently<ref></ref>. The chief minister of Bihar, [[Nitish Kumar]], visited the location for the first time in 2009. As a result of his visit, an attempt was made to popularize the area for eco-tourism. On January 29, 2011, the lake was opened to the general public.
