Alton Community Unit School District #11 is in [[Madison County, Illinois]]. It is currently the largest of the Madison County school districts with seven elementary schools, one middle school, an early childhood center, an alternative school and a new 387,000 square-foot{{convert|387000|sqft|m2|adj=on}} high school. The new Alton High School has 90 new classrooms, a performing arts auditorium, gymnasium and many other amenities for students. The Alton School District recently invested $57 million in the construction of the state-of-the-art high school and a renovated middle school. The District’s comprehensive academic program is targeted to provide all students with a high-quality education and post-secondary success.
