The Rinat Akhmetov Humanitarian Center is a private initiative of one person - Rinat Akhmetov - that was created as a rapid response unit to provide practical aid and relief to civilians. First aid was provided by the Rinat Akhmetov Foundation, which works since 2005, and in August 2014 the Humanitarian Center was established on the basis of the Foundation. Its purpose was to save people.

As of March 2018, the Humanitarian Center issued civilians more than 12 million food packages.
