"On the Other Hand" is a country music song written by Paul Overstreet and Don Schlitz. It was first released as a single by a relatively unknown artist, Randy Travis, in late June 1985, peaking at #67 in the United States. It was the first released recording by "Randy Travis" and the song was only a minor hit. "On the Other Hand" was then recorded by Keith Whitley on his October 1985 album, L.A. to Miami, but not released as a single. After the chart successes of Travis' next two singles, "1982" and "Diggin' Up Bones", the label re-released "On the Other Hand" in April 1986, and it became his first number-one hit in both the United States and Canada.[1]. All three of the aforementioned Travis songs were released on his June 1986 hit album, Storms of Life.
